Produced from the best crop of the Early Melnik Vine growing in the vineyards of the Struma Valley, South West Bulgaria. This indigenous to the area grape variety was created by the crossing of the ancient Broad Leaved Melnik Vine and the French grape variety, Valdigue, in the 1970s. After fermentation the wine spends 18 months in new French oak barrels and further 6 months in the bottle before release. The wine has a deep ruby colour and intense aromas of cherries and black fruits mixed with sweet spices and vanilla. The palate is full bodied and juicy smooth and the finish is long lasting with hints of tobacco and cocoa dusting. Ready now but can keep for 12-15 years. Serve at 18-20° C alongside game, venison and lamb dishes as well as hard cheeses.
